Tap your symptom and find out what the likely fix is.
Real jobs, real results. This is what we do every day.
Not a mall kiosk. A dedicated diagnostics lab — we find the real problem, then fix it properly.
Professional-grade equipment — because the right tools make the difference between a guess and a fix.
Used for inspecting tiny solder joints, damaged board traces, and connector pins invisible to the naked eye. The camera feed lets us show customers exactly what we're seeing.
Precise temperature control means clean, reliable solder joints every time. No cold joints, no bridges, no damage to surrounding components. This is what separates us from heat-gun shops.
High-frequency sound waves blast corrosion and liquid residue out of every crevice on the board — far more thorough than isopropyl and a brush. Essential for water damage recovery.
Lets us power a board at controlled voltage and measure current draw. If a board has a short, the current spikes — telling us exactly where the fault is before we touch a single component.
Digital maps of every component on a logic board. We trace voltage lines, compare readings against spec, and isolate exactly which part has failed — without guessing or swapping random components.
Measures voltage, resistance, and continuity across the board. We test every rail and trace against known-good readings to find exactly where power is dropping or shorting out.
Not all repairs are equal. Here's why some take longer and cost more — and why that's a good thing.
Standard part replacements — cracked screens, dead batteries, speaker/mic repairs. Quality parts, quick turnaround.
Charging ports, HDMI ports, headphone jacks — requires soldering skill and the right tools. Most shops skip these and tell you to buy a new device.
Logic board faults, short circuits, liquid damage, no-power diagnosis. Requires microscope, schematics, and power supply. The jobs most shops send to the trash.
No guessing. No random part swapping. Here's the exact process we run on every device.
Time is critical with liquid damage. The sooner you bring it in, the better the chances of a full recovery.
Your device contains your life. We take that seriously.
We don't browse your photos, messages, or files. The repair stays focused on the hardware — your personal content is yours.
For water damage and no-power situations, our first priority is always protecting and recovering your data before attempting any repair.
You're always informed before anything is done. No surprises, no unauthorized work. You approve every step of the repair.
Every device is treated as if it were our own. Anti-static mats, proper storage, and careful handling throughout the entire repair process.

When you hand us your device — whether you walk in or ship it — you're trusting us with something important. These terms exist to make sure we're both on the same page about what that means. Take a few minutes to read through them.
HJ TechFix is an independent, privately owned repair shop based in Pittsburg, CA. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any device manufacturer — including but not limited to Apple, Samsung, Google, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, or any other brand.
Being independent means we are not bound by manufacturer repair restrictions, which allows us to offer more flexible, affordable, and often faster service than authorized centers. However, it also means our repairs are not manufacturer-sanctioned, and in some cases a repair performed by us may affect your existing manufacturer warranty.
By bringing your device to HJ TechFix, you acknowledge that we are an independent third-party repair provider and accept that any manufacturer warranty implications are your responsibility to understand before proceeding.
We use high-quality third-party parts for most repairs. These parts are sourced from vetted suppliers and meet or exceed industry standards for performance and durability. In most cases, they are functionally equivalent to the original components and are what we stand behind with our 90-day warranty.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts are available upon request. If you prefer original manufacturer parts for your repair, just let us know before work begins. OEM parts may carry a higher cost and longer lead time due to sourcing, and we'll give you a clear estimate before ordering anything.
We will not use parts you supply yourself unless explicitly agreed upon in advance. Customer-supplied parts are not covered under our warranty — see Section 07 for details.
Every repair carries some level of risk — that's the nature of working with complex electronics. We want to be upfront about that rather than hide it in fine print. Devices with pre-existing damage, prior repair attempts, corrosion, or age-related wear can behave unpredictably once opened.
Specific risks to be aware of: iPads and other glued-screen devices require prying to access internal components — there is a small but real chance of screen damage during this process. On Apple devices, Touch ID and Face ID are hardware-paired to the motherboard; these features may stop working after certain repairs, regardless of how carefully the job is done. Liquid-damaged devices are especially unpredictable — corrosion continues to spread even after drying, and components that tested fine initially may fail later.
We take every precaution with your device. But by leaving it with us, you acknowledge that unforeseen damage is a possibility and that HJ TechFix cannot be held liable for pre-existing conditions or failures that arise from complications outside our control.
We do our best to give you an accurate quote upfront, but some devices don't reveal the full picture until they're open and on the bench. If we discover additional issues during the repair that affect the cost or scope, we'll stop and contact you before going any further.
Nothing changes without your approval. Your original quote stays valid for the original scope of work. You're never on the hook for something you didn't agree to.
Every eligible repair we complete comes with a written 90-day warranty. If the same issue we fixed comes back within 90 days, bring it in and we'll make it right — no charge. The parts we install are also covered for 90 days from the date of service.
This warranty covers the specific repair performed. It does not extend to unrelated issues, new problems that develop independently, software-related failures, or any damage that occurs after the device leaves our shop.
We want to be clear about the boundaries so there are no surprises. Our warranty does not apply to:
If something goes wrong and you're not sure whether it's covered, just call us. We'd rather talk it through than have you wonder.
If your device has an issue within the 90-day window that falls under our warranty, bring it back in and we'll take care of it. We do ask that you give us the opportunity to re-examine and re-repair the device before we discuss any refund — that's how we confirm whether the issue is actually related to our work.
If we determine the issue is covered and we're unable to resolve it, a refund may be issued for the original repair amount — minus any applicable diagnostic or repair attempt fees. Refunds are not issued for unrelated issues or for damage that occurred after the device left our shop.
Certain repairs — particularly motherboard work, data recovery, and devices that have already been opened by someone else — require significant time and expertise even when the outcome is uncertain. For these jobs, we charge a diagnostic and repair attempt fee of $40–$100 if the repair cannot be completed successfully.
We'll always let you know upfront if a repair attempt fee applies before we start. You'll never be surprised by a charge you didn't know was possible.
We work fast — most phone screen replacements are done within an hour. More involved repairs like console HDMI ports, water damage, or board-level work typically take 24–48 hours. If parts need to be ordered, we'll give you a realistic timeframe before we commit to anything.
Repair times quoted on our site or in conversation are based on experience and are good-faith estimates — not guarantees. If something comes up that changes the timeline, we'll reach out to you right away.
For mail-in customers: pack your device well — ideally in its original box with adequate padding. Devices that arrive damaged due to poor packaging are the sender's responsibility. We are not liable for damage that occurs during transit to us.
We strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance when sending your device. If you don't request insurance and something happens in transit on the way back to you, that loss falls on you, not us. If you send us a pre-paid label without insurance, we'll use it as-is — we can't add coverage to a label we didn't purchase.
Once your repair is done and approved, if a warranty issue comes up, ship it back to us and we'll cover the return shipping once the repair is confirmed.
Your personal data is yours. We don't look through your photos, messages, emails, or any other personal content. Our work is purely hardware-focused — we're fixing the device, not interested in what's on it.
That said, we strongly recommend backing up your device before any repair. Hardware work always carries a risk of data loss — especially on heavily damaged devices. We take precautions, but we cannot guarantee data integrity and are not liable for data lost during a repair.
For water damage and no-power situations, we prioritize data safety first and will flag any data concerns before proceeding with the repair.
Call or text before you drop off your device — we'd rather answer your questions upfront.
Your privacy matters to us. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have — written in plain language, not legal jargon.
We only collect information you voluntarily give us. This includes:
We do not collect payment card information directly — all payment processing is handled through secure third-party providers. We do not collect data from your device (photos, files, messages, or accounts).
Simple — we use your information to do the job you asked us to do:
That's it. We don't use your contact information for marketing emails or newsletters unless you specifically ask us to.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever. We are a local repair shop — your information stays with us and is used only to service your device and communicate with you directly.
When your device is in our hands, we only access what's necessary to perform the repair — typically the hardware itself. We do not browse your photos, messages, emails, apps, or any personal content stored on the device.
We recommend backing up your device before dropping it off. While we take every precaution, data loss can occur during hardware repairs and we cannot be held responsible for data that is lost as a result of the repair process.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us directly at 925-421-4523 or visit us in store.
We retain customer contact and repair records for up to 2 years for warranty tracking and service history purposes. After that, records are deleted. You can request deletion at any time before that by contacting us directly.
If we ever update this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We're a small local shop and our practices are straightforward — we don't anticipate significant changes.
Call, text, or stop by — we're happy to explain exactly what we have and how to have it removed.
